Bunya House - Cape Woolamai
Nestled in the laid-back coastal town of Cape Woolamai on Phillip Island, this home is thoughtfully crafted as a serene escape shaped by the rhythm of the ocean. Its form rises with soft, skillion lines that echo the dunes nearby, creating a calm and grounded presence in the streetscape.
A refined material palette blends texture and warmth with coastal minimalism. Crisp James Hardie cladding wraps the exterior in a clean, modern skin, while Knot Wood aluminium battens introduce the warmth of timber in a low-maintenance, weather-ready form. Stone accents anchor the design, subtly referencing the rugged coastline. Together, these elements balance durability with elegance — built to withstand the salt air while remaining welcoming and refined.
Stepping inside, polished concrete floors stretch throughout the home, cool underfoot and perfect for sandy feet after a morning surf. Natural light spills in generously, drawing a gentle connection between the interior and the surrounding landscape. The home unfolds with a quiet confidence — open, calming, and intentionally simple, placing lifestyle at its heart.
To the rear, the space transitions effortlessly into a private sanctuary where a Plungie ‘Studio’ pool becomes the centrepiece of outdoor living. It’s a spot for slow afternoons, laughter with friends, or a quiet dip at sunset when the sky turns soft over the island.
This home is more than a residence — it’s a reflection of Phillip Islands soul: relaxed, resilient, and beautifully in tune with the coast.
